OpenBazaar the alternative to centralized marketplaces
Peer-to-peer (P2P), systems were popularized by the file sharing system Napster, originally released in 1999.
The concept has inspired new structures and philosophies in many areas of human interaction.
In such social contexts, peer-to-peer as a meme refers to the egalitarian social networking that has emerged throughout society,
enabled by Internet technologies in general.
Regarding the marketplace there is a P2P application for selling and buying goods in the internet. It is called OpenBazaar.
It’s a peer to peer application that doesn’t require middlemen, which means no fees & no restrictions.
OpenBazaar connects people directly via a peer to peer network. Data is distributed across the network instead of storing it in a central database.
Centralized marketplaces waste energy in AI for profilation of the buyers, OpenBazaar does not.
Amazon as a marketplace has a terrible record at treating emplyees fairly.
If you want to order a book (or something else), don't buy it from Amazon. Amazon harms its customers, as well as workers, the national treasury, and many others that it affects.
It is also impossible to find "Amazon's sustainability report", try searching it yourself.
OpenBazaar is decentralized, it has no middle man, no one has to pay a fee for it, because is peer to peer (P2P).
Its ecological part shines when you think there are no server farms, no wharehouses, just normal business and people that are willing to give the ecological part of the internet a try.
